Well yes, why not buy someone a drink? People are more inclined to talk to you if you buy them a drink. Guy or girl makes no difference. Buying someone a drink, most of the time, guarantees at least a short banal conversation.

i’ve never seen girls buy drinks unless it was for other girl friends. i think it’s so commonplace to do it that we should think about what the gestures means.
